Labor Day = Camping

So, we didn't officially "camp" Labor Day weekend, but we did go to our traditional campground, Fort Custer, for just one day. We got up early and left pretty close to on time - amazing! Adam stayed with Claire so that I could get out before he went golfing that afternoon. The girls (mom, Ruth, Jill, Becky and I) + David went kayaking; most of us for the first time. We had a great trip down the Kalamazoo River without any calamities. Kayaking is so much easier than canoeing. Claire was fast asleep when I returned. I wish we would have gotten a pic of her sleeping on the couch in my parent's fifth wheel. She looked like a doll - no joke. Little hands softly closed, mouth slightly open and eyelashes so long you would think they were fake.

While the guys + mom went golfing, the girls thought it was a great day to get some ice cream. (As if there's a bad day for ice cream...) Funny thing about the ice cream shop we visited. It's located about a half mile from the campground. We used to just sit around for hours waiting for the golfers to return when all along there was ice cream waiting for us at the Lickity Split ice cream shop. Needless to say, it is now tradition to get a little treat whenever we are left for more important things - like golf. :)

I caught Aunt Jill trying to give Claire some ice cream. JK :)

We visited for a little while longer once the guys + mom returned, but then had to say our good-byes. It was pretty chilly out when we finally left so we had to bundle Claire up. She was not too enthused about her little panda hat.

Claire was pretty tired from napping all day so she passed out on grandma's lap.
